Safety measures on Englefield Road

In an attempt to help prevent accidents at the intersection of De Beauvoir Road and Englefield Road, Hackney Council are proposing to remark existing road markings and introduce anti-skid treatment to Englefield Road on the approaches to the zebra crossings.

There have been ten accidents at the junction over the past three years.

Let us know if you have any comments on the plans - click on picture to enlarge the view.

I thought that there was a plan to introduce 20mph speed limits on some of the borough roads. Is this true; and if so, is Englefield Road included in the proposal? (I imagine that a 20mph limit would help reduce the likelihood of accidents at least as much as an "anti-skid treatment".)

Danny,
It already has. We pushed hard for a 20mph zone to cover the whole of the De Beauvoir area, not just certain parts as had originally been proposed.

Hopefully this step will help even more.
