Open House 2012

The independent architecture organisation Open-City is holding it's annual Open House event this weekend the 22nd and 23rd September.

Open House London 2012 is the 20th anniversary of the festival. Over 750 buildings across the city will open their doors to visitors, alongside a programme of neighbourhood walks, night-time openings and expert talks - all for free.

Highlights include 30 St Mary Ax (the Gherkin) and the nearby Heron Tower and Tower 42. Boat tours to the Thames Barrier and Hoo Peninsula, and a special event centring on the transformation of East London, showcasing the Olympic regeneration in Stratford.

Local events include tours around the Arcola Theatre in Dalston during it's current refurbishment, canal boats on Kingsland Basin by Canals in Hackney Users Group and access to Shoreditch Town Hall.

A searchable database of all the many events in this year's festival - including children's activities and disabled access - is available online at the Open House website.
And all the details of the festival are on Open-City's Open House website.
