Kingsland Fire Station Update

Despite the campaign lead by De Beauvoir's Labour councillors, supported by Hackney South and Shoreditch MP Meg Hillier, Hackney Mayor Jules Pipe, London Assembly Member Jeanette Arnold and fellow Labour councillors across Hackney, Conservative London Mayor Boris Johnson is determined to push ahead with the closure of Dalston Kingsland Fire Station in our ward.

In a meeting on the 18th June, the London Fire Authority (LFA) blocked the Mayor's plans to close 10 stations across London including Dalston Kingsland. Mayor Johnson is now taking legal advice and may use powers to 'instruct' the LFA to accept the plan, effectively forcing it through and imposing his closures on communities who have repeatedly rejected them.

Jeanette Arnold AM challenged Boris Johnson on the proposed closure during Questions to the Mayor on the 19th June. See video below.

Your De Beauvoir Labour councillors will continue to oppose this unnecessary closure in order to ensure the safety and security of all local residents.
