Mayor of Hackney's Music Award for schools

The Mayor of Hackney Jules Pipe has announced a new fund to assist young musicians in the borough. The fund is established in association with Hackney Learning Trust's Music Service.

The Mayor of Hackney's Music Award is open to local schools' music departments in three categories.

The Pupil Award of up to £1,000 for achievement in instrument learning, the Instrumental Ensemble Award up to £5,000, and the Excellence in Music Education Award of up to £3,000.

Jules Pipe said 'Hackney is home to some incredible young musicians, so it's exciting to be able to formally acknowledge them and help them to further develop their talents'.

The winners are to be announced at the Hackney Music Gala at the Hackney Empire on 7th November.
