St Peters Crypt, St Peter’s Church, Northchurch Terrace, De Beauvoir, London, N1 4DA
October’s De Beauvoir ward forum will focus on the future of the Regent's Canal – how can we make the most of having the canal in our ward? What part can each of us play in making that happen? What can we do to ensure it is respected by all?
If you're interested contributing to how we can make Regent's Canal better than ever please do come along and join in the discussion.
Our Canal is a much-loved and much-used open space that threads De Beauvoir together with its neighbours. At the weekend, its towpath is packed with walkers, cyclists, joggers and tourists. During the week, it is a much used commuter route. It’s also home to a number of narrowboat-dwelling residents, both in Kingsland Basin and beyond.
In De Beauvoir, the arrival of cafes and bars along the towpath, as well as the opening up of Kingsland Basin mean the canal’s popularity is increasing month on month, and during the summer Canalival brought the question of how different uses live alongside each other to the fore.
Join us at the De Beauvoir Ward Forum on October 29th to discuss questions including:
• What should our canal and towpath be used for?
• How do we make sure it is attractive to and used by all residents?
• How can we get involved in making that happen?
Joining us will be joined by:
Rosie Tharp – the Canals and Rivers Trust Towpath ranger for Regent's Canal
Ben Kennedy – from Hackney Council’s transport planning team, who will be able to talk about the uses of the canal towpath, including plans for a parallel route for the towpath as it passes through De Beauvoir
We’re also hoping to be joined by a representative from CHUG, the residents group for the people living on the narrowboats in De Beauvoir’s Kingsland Basin
This ward forum will be held in St Peters Crypt, on Northchurch Terrace, De Beauvoir – enter through the ramp on the side of the church. Thank you to St Peter’s Community Partnership for making this possible.
