The Hackney Volpone at the Rose Lipman Building

NYLon Projects in collaboration with The Mill Co Project retell a classic comedy about obsessive greed and a hoax which threatens to spin out of control:

The Hackney Volpone, or The Fox

by Ben Jonson

Directed by Anna Jones

Across one day, three years of deception finally catch up with nobleman Volpone and his faithful servant Mosca, leading to a series of ever more unfortunate events.

First performed in 1605, Ben Jonson’s play is as relevant as it was then with its central theme of how greed and desire still drive us to utter stupidity, selfishness and sin. NYLon Projects’ bold and irreverent production uses a new cut and involved a supporting cast of local people, helping to make the play accessible and immersive to London in 2014.
