Hackney Debates no. 4 - Education. 30th November

The fourth Hackney Debate is taking place in De Beauvoir on November 30th.

The previous debates have proven popular and well attended by the local community.

This debate is entitled 'Secondary Schools: is parental choice paramount', and will be once again chaired by the BBC's George Alagiah.

The debate will cover themes such as where is the secondary school system going? Are recent changes improving parental choice, or dismantling the secondary education system into unworkable diversity?

The subject will be introduced by BBC education correspondent Reeta Chakrabarti and the speakers are: Sir Mike Tomlinson, patron of the Hackney Learning Trust 2002-2012, Andreas Wasemann, chair and founder of Hackney New School and Melissa Benn, writer and campaigner for comprehensive education.

Following the speaker's presentations there will be questions and a general discussion.

The venue is St. Peter's Church, De Beauvoir Road, N1 4DA. Doors open at 19.00, entry is free and parking is free in De Beauvoir Square. The debate takes place on Friday 30th November.
