Hackney New School

At their meeting on the 9th of September the Hackney Council planning committee granted permission for the building of Hackney New School to go ahead.

Following pressure from your Labour Councillors and representations by local residents the approval was subject to various conditions including limited hours and a reasonable transport plan.

The headteacher also gave assurances that access to the canal would only be used occassionally by the school and would generally be locked so as not to increase the disturbance to residents and wildlife in the basin.

The full decision notice and case officers' report are available to view at the Hackney council planning website.

I would really not like to have kids running around our flats which are based on Kingsland Basin. Also it is not a great area for kids to have a school that is located on a high street.
